Limehouse Mass, released in early 2025, was recorded with the Happenstance Singers, directed by Matthew Swann. It features a short selection of choral and organ music by J A Monteiro, with two motets and an organ voluntary alongside the Mass setting which gives the album its name.  ‘Limehouse Mass’ is a setting written for the Church of Our Lady Immaculate & St Frederick, London.  ‘Ave Maria’ is a motet composed for the Choir of St Hugh’s College, Oxford. The final track is a voluntary on the Easter hymn ‘Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem', recorded by James Gough (Assistant Organist at Southwark Cathedral).

Joe Monteiro, who publishes as J A Monteiro, is a composer and arranger of choral music.

His works have been recorded by the Ulysses Arts label. Limehouse Mass was released in 2025. Two further albums, Seven Last Words and Monteiro: Choral Music, are scheduled for release in 2026.

Choral works include motets, Mass and psalm settings, and arrangements of hymns and carols. Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem was performed at Southwark Cathedral in 2024 and subsequently recorded.

He is Director of Music at the Church of Our Lady Immaculate & St Frederick, London. He graduated from the University of Oxford, where he wrote for the chapel choir of St Hugh’s College.
